Random Team Generator

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-08-03

1. The names you enter

This site requires no account and collects no personal information. The roster you paste into the textarea — names, optional skill weights, and your team-count or team-size settings — is processed entirely inside your own browser. It is not transmitted to us, not stored on a server, and never received by us in any form. There is no backend: the site is a set of static files plus JavaScript that runs on your device. Closing the tab discards everything except what you chose to copy.

This matters most for the Secret Santa generator and the classroom group generator, where the list may contain children's names or colleagues' names. Those lists stay on your device.

2. Share links

The "Copy share link" button packs your roster and settings into the part of the URL after the # symbol. By the design of the web, browsers never send the fragment after # to any server — including ours — so creating or opening a share link does not upload your list. It does, however, mean that anyone who receives the link can read the whole roster, including any skill weights. Treat a share link exactly as you would treat the list itself: if the weights or names are sensitive, share the generated result instead of the link.

3. Cookies and third-party advertising

This site may display third-party advertising, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Users in the EEA and UK may also be shown a consent prompt where required by law. Advertising vendors never receive the roster you typed — it is not part of the page they see.

4. Analytics

We may use privacy-friendly, cookie-free aggregate analytics (for example Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count page views and see which pages are useful. No personally identifying information is collected, and the names, weights or results from the generator are never included in analytics data.

5. Local storage and cookies we set

The tool itself sets no cookies and writes nothing to local storage. It may read preset values from the page URL (a shared roster, or the preset built into a landing page). Blocking cookies entirely does not stop the generator from working.

6. Affiliate disclosure

Some outbound links on this site may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a commission if you sign up for or purchase something through them. This never changes the price you pay, and it does not influence the algorithms, tables or recommendations here. Where a page contains affiliate links we aim to make that clear on the page itself.

7. Children

This service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Teachers using the classroom pages should note that, because nothing is uploaded, no student name entered here is ever received or stored by us.

8. Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and the generator will continue to work. You can also use the site with an ad blocker. Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing to request, export or delete — there is no account and no record.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change with it. Material changes will be reflected on this page rather than announced separately.

10. Contact

Questions about privacy can go to the contact page or rlaejrtn16@gmail.com. Background on how the tool works is on the about page.
